Challenge

The development of the VDC app required creating a seamless interface between the driver’s inputs and the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU). This involved implementing a user-friendly interface on McLaren’s dashboard unit, which runs on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The app needed to access automotive APIs to send precise control values to the ECU, ensuring real-time adjustments to the vehicle’s stability settings.

Results

By developing the “Vehicle Drift Control” app, we provided drivers with intuitive control over the car’s drift settings, enhancing the overall driving experience.
